About laser cut MDF

Cut edge

MDF cuts with a dark brown/black edge. The thicker the MDF the darker the edge will be. Some light sanding can change the colour tone of the cut to achieve the desired look.

Laser cutting

When laser cutting MDF there can sometimes be some faint scorching marks due to the heat of the laser. We have optimised our cutting
technique to minimise these issues.

Laser engraving

Engraving is when the laser makes a very shallow surface scratching. Engraving on MDF creates a light orange brown finish and can achieve very sharp and clean results. Each sheet of MDF can vary in colour.

Vector engraving

Vector engraving/cutting is recommended for line and text as it will not lose resolution.

Raster engraving

Raster engraving is calculated through pixels. We recommend that you get the highest resolution image you can for the best results.
